I was lucky enough to have lived in the United Arab Emirates for 14 years during the early years of its federation. I have so many fond memories of the UAE’s rich history, its gorgeous (and I mean really gorgeous) beaches, and the wide open expanse of desert. Water is so valued in a desert climate, and this little Oasis was created in Dubai. It evokes the past through the architecture and the sailing vessel, and it was such a pleasure to paint this delightful little place on Earth.
