These wonderful Dahlias, each flower unique, were a joy to paint. I tried to keep the brushstrokes fresh and impressionistic with a lot of movement. Over the years I played with painting different background colors of this painting, finally keeping the subtle greens and pinks, but allowing the vibrant blue to show through in various places throughout the painting.
